#WEAREHERETOSERVE
Everybody can be great…because anybody can serve like Jesus.
We know from first hand experience that serving others is the best way to re-energize your faith and give us new perspective by following in the footsteps of Jesus. We know there is nothing more energizing than serving and sharing in God’s noble purpose with friends. So we unapologetically and enthusiastically, encourage serving around here! Everyone can do something for someone!
It is one of our five core values, WE ARE HERE TO SERVE.
“For even the Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve…” Mark 10:45
At Temple, we refer to our volunteers as our TEAM- because we couldn’t do what we do without our TEAM showing up and backing us up every week. Ways You Can Serve Right Now!
“Hunger is not a problem. It is an obscenity. How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world.” Anne Frank
HUNGER HURTS! No child can learn, or thrive on an empty stomach. It is hard to understand how in a nation of such abundance there are still children who are hungry; it is even more difficult to ignore our responsibility as followers of Jesus, to help them whenever and wherever we can. Hunger may not be new, but that doesn’t mean it is inevitable!. It is hard to imagine how children can learn and keep up with friends, develop self-confidence when they haven’t had a decent meal all weekend or worried when there next one will be. Read More
We do not usually think twice when we enter and exit our homes, but for those who are need assistance, it can be an incredible struggle, making a home a virtual prison. Service and Witness (SAW) is a building ministry that provides freedom, independence and restores dignity. We build ramps, free of charge, that allows easier access and increased mobility for those with disabilities.
When we are able to serve others, we open doors to a renewed sense of purpose and passion that as we live out our faith, we know from first hand experience what God can do with our lives and want to share that enthusiasm wherever we go.
The SAW ministry was created to provide essential wheelchair ramps for those who cannot afford them. Thanks to the dedication of our team of volunteers we able to building Handicapped ramps for residents of Raleigh County. Read More

Burlington UM Family Services

With over 6,900 children in WV’s foster care system, there is a desperate need for caring adults and faith communities to enter into meaningful, mentoring relationships.
We have partnered with the Burlington community so that the Temple community may come alongside youth when they reach the difficult moments of their lives and begin to ask the big existential questions – am I lovable, valuable, beautiful, significant? Our goal is to restore the dignity and honor every Child of God deserves, provide a consistent, trusted role model to guide their search for answers and to be an unwavering community of faith that believes when teens see Jesus for who He really is, they’ll believe what He says about who they really are.
All Mentors are screened and trained to provide one-on-one mentoring, encouragement and confidence. Read More

Family Ministries

Partnering With Families
Families are like branches on a tree. We may grow in different directions yet our roots remain as one.
Family ministries exists to partner with time-crunched families by providing the support they need, the strategies for creating the ideal environment for better, deeper relationships through understanding, shared values and their spiritual, emotional and social development.
We believe that the church is the ideal environment to enable parents and kids to work together through every stage of life. Families who are consistent in their faith values grow stronger in respect for one another, develop God-centered self-confidence and the courage of Christ be a light for friends. Our aim is to lock arms with families through ongoing ministry and resourcing to see those hopes and prayers become a reality. CONTACT US
